  • Tucson, our country was founded on freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. Religion=beliefs. This can be Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Atheism, whatever. Decisions should be made on a local level. If the school is in a Christian area that chooses Christian prayer, so be it.

  • Jeff, So you are defining a sign in a school as "tyranny"? I agree that all voices should be heard but action should be focused on reasonable and sensible issues.

  • What we are seeing is a classic example of what is wrong in the US. A child has an issue with something that has been around a school for a long time. The girl gets her 15 mins of fame.

  • Nothing is caste in stone. Literally everything rolls with the market. Six years ago you may have had a property listed at $190K that had five offers in the first two days and end up selling for $200K, seller paying none of the buyers settlement costs.

  • Not really, Torpedo. Real Estate is like everything else. You need the experience to go along with the education. I am certain you did not know everything about manufacturing right out of school. FYI, I have 32 years of electronic manufacturing experience.

  • Further clarification. When I say brokers determine the rate, that refers to individual brokers, not brokers as a group. Each broker is responsible for his/her rate schedule within each brokerage. By law and code of the NAR, Rates are not discussed between brokers or individual realtors.

  • Points of clarification. Realtors don't set prices. The market sets the price. Commissions are not standard. Brokers determine the commission rate. Commissions are typically split four ways, Selling Agent, Selling Broker, Listing Agent, Listing Broker.

  • Some comments on this page are well thought out, intelligent comments, others are... well... For what it's worth, I am a Realtor. I can tell you that NAR is one of the only, if not THE only organization fighting and lobbying Congress for homeowners' rights.
